Is a general rule of thumb that I use when gettin that day started. If hit three, I go back home, become a hermit, and wait for the next day to come. I almost had that issue today.

1. Dumped my entire cup of coffee on the front of my shirt. (Bought some replacements when I got here.)
2. MGW takeoff on a short runway and the front Bonanza door opened on rotation. (That wakes you up better than coffee does, because obviously I didn't get any.)
3. __

I sure hope lunch goes well. Anyone else do anything similar?

If I quit for the day each time I got to three strikes I'd never make it past noon. After a couple mistakes, I just tell myself to pull my head out of my ass and pay attention to whatever it is I'm screwing up.

I have a three strike rule on flight lessons. If three things go wrong before getting in the plane I call it a day and do ground with the student instead.

Sometimes you are not meant to fly that day...

I was getting ready for a solo flight while working on my commercial requirements a while back when my day looked like this:
1 locked myself out of my office.
2 nearly "t boned" on the way to the airport but I was just fast enough...
3 dead airspeed indicator spotted on takeoff roll.

I aborted the takeoff and parked the plane. I don't know what the problem with the ASI was but it wasn't the pitot cover. Either way there were enough things going wrong that I figured it was time to reset and start over in the morning.

My father told me this rule long ago. I don't know if it's from the navy or somewhere else, but he told me this again when I started my own lessons. Some days it's better just to stay on the ground.

I think it's from a sport.
