Wondering if the folks in the lower 48 get the GA & Part 135 Survey from the FAA. I have been getting this for years and am tired of filling it out and sending it in. Areas covered are from hours flown, # of landings, how the plane is equipped radios-navigation-ELT-GPS, fuel type, fuel burn,IFR, VFR hours, ice protection, business or pleasure, certified for IFR ..... It goes on and on.

I fill it out every year, really want to through it in the trash. Or say yah I flew no problems 110 hours last year.

Comments....

Fill out what you want and send it in. It's probably just updating a database anyway, so leaving something blank will end up same as "Previously reported, no change"

I have never seen such a survey, must be an Alaska thing.

Must be something new. I never had to fill out any survey from the FAA during the years I flew in Alaska. We did have to do an annual flight time/airplanes flown resume for the insurance company, which is something we do in NM.

He said he's been getting it for years so it might be an individual FSDO program.:dunno:

They must just send it out to select N numbers or maybe randomly. Ever since I bought my Baron, I started getting these things in the mail. I never received one for the 170 and haven't gotten one yet for the Waco.

Randomly for the past 5 plus years, maybe I should play the loto. Oh we don't have one in Alaska. Start over Bill......

I say random as far as initially picking the N-number. I really don't know for sure. All I can say is I live in VA and as soon as I registered my Baron I started getting these things and it has been every year since, but have never gotten one for any of the other airplanes I own or have owned.

It could be they zero in on certain types that they think might be used in 135 or commercial ops.

I have been getting the surveys, and answering them for years through two different airplanes. Figure send them in keep a bureaucrat in a job.

I've never gotten any survey like that before, my nearby FSDO must not do it :dunno:

I can't remember ever getting a survey like that from the FAA. I have done Part 135 for years but I am not the operator and I'm not in Alaska.

Just kidding about the random thing. As far as I know most of my flying friends also get them. I think Alaskans are a test bed because we loose so many planes every year. I must say the number has gone way down in the last decade..

Never got it.

135 & 91

The surveys are not actually done directly by the FAA. The website they direct you to is some research company/contractor like Rand of something like that.
