I wonder if the balloons from New Mexico will make it this far north (Chicago) this year. Looking at the winds:

There seems to be a chance that they could cross Chicago if they stay low. That does not seem very safe, but I am not an expert on this subject.
Looking at the 2006 results, it looks like the Germans won the America's Challenge Race from Albuquerque. But it seems like the distances could be greater this year if the winds take the balloons farther north.
