I've flown/owned a few two stoke powered planes. 2-strokes are reliable ... right up till they quit!

Certainly can get more than 200 or 300 hours between overhauls. Gotta let these motors slowly warm up amongst other best practices.

Absolutely! I've heard that you need 200ºF CHT before take-off but a wise Rotax rebuilder taught me that the engine needs to be run about 10 minutes or so to make sure it is "heat soaked" before full power application.

Is this like Jeopardy?

Contestant - "Alex, I'll take controversial GA topics for 1000 please..."

Alex - "The answer is.... 200 hours between overhauls...

Contestant - "Alex, what is - what do you get if you run LOP?"

Alex - "Ohhhh no. Sorry. The correct answer is low wings rule and buy a Bo."

Contestant - "Wait, how are you still the host?"

That’s not a whole lot better than the hand made engine that Orville and Wilbur started with.
