2 killed in South Carolina Crash

I suppose visual illusion is possible but they do have some pretty good lighting (population) around there.

This accident happened at my old airport in SC and night time illusions were a factor. If you look at this airport on satellite, you’ll see ARW doesn’t have jack for visual references on approach to rwy 24.

My premature guess is night illusions causing too low approach? 1/4 mile off runway coming in to land. Any other details you guys have?
If the runway is lit, that should be good enough, given how close they were. I've landed at night many times with no VASI or other glide slope assistance (or even landing lights on the plane), as have many others. Hopefully someone didn't line up on a street or something.

There are papi lights at this airport for both ends of the runways. RWY 17&35. Mt Pleasant, SC.
