Cleared for Takeoff
Two killed today at Northeast Philadelphia (KPNE). Story and video of crash site on CBS3 . I don't know any instructors over there, but seems to have been their Grumman AA-1. Apparently, upon climb out they were initiating a turn and the presumed cause is a stall-spin accident.
Winds were really windy today during this time. I was supposed to fly tonight but cancelled due to the winds. At 3pm, KLOM and PTW were reporting winds variable 270-310, 13 G 21, Peak gust 28. I would presume from that direction that PNE was using 15-33 for the runway, and when climbing out off of runway 33 they have a noise abatement that they ask to you avoid.
Heart goes out to those students families and the instructors.
