Hello

I used to have depression and was taking antidepressants for a while but I'm not taking them anymore and haven't had any issues for the past year. Will the history that I took them prevent me from getting a first class medical certificate.

Thanks for the help

It will prevent you from getting a third on it's own.

You need to show 90 days off the drugs.

You then need to show that you do not have the depression anymore. Unless you can tie it to a specific situational event, you're looking at an entire PPP psych profile which entails some traditional psychological testing (MMPI-2, rorschak), some testing specific to depression, and then you'll need a board certified PSYCHIATRIST to write his opinion on you. You're running in the range of a few thousand dollars (unless you're already under PSYCHIATRIC care).

If you are serious - contact Bruce Chien off this board - www.aeromedicaldoc.com

do what he says. Exactly what he says. While ATP training is not cheap, qualifying with past SSRI use is not either . . .
