The fuel valve sometimes does not “click” when selecting the left tank (valve in the forward position). Is there an easy fix for this or does the valve need to be rebuilt? Having flown Warriors and Archers I prefer the newer fuel valve with positive stops. Can the newer fuel valve be installed in place of the older valve?

It should click. There are some aircraft with similar valves that have an AD on this

topic. It is relatively easy to replace the “ detent washer” or possibly just flip it

over. Generally the cone should be lubed with Fuel- lube, easy- turn or similar.

Replace the o-ring as well. Occasionally; you may find the “ cup” upside down and

causing the detent to be ineffective.

There should be detents. As mentioned, these valves have ADs for this specific problem when installed in other airframes. Get it looked at and/or replaced.
