Interesting footage from 1961 of a Cessna 310 "crash landing" at Addison, TX.

Firefighters riding tailboards. That's been a long time for me. It went out of fashion back in the 1980s.

Yeah they kind of frown upon that these days. Same with the open cab trucks!

I think the last time for me was 1990 or so. It had been a few years after I was out of the fire service and was doing volunteer comms for the town parade. I was in the staging area coordinating the various units the last of which was a fire engine from a neighboring town. I hopped on the tailboard as it departed the staging area and road down the parade route.

There was nothing like holding on the back of a 1953 Mac pumper that was bouncing over the county roads at 80 mph holding on to the bar for dear life.

Haha, lets light a cigarette next to an airplane crash.
That firehose, not much bigger than my garden hose - maybe 5gpm? lol

If that video was 1961 that airplane had to be at most 2 years old. The swept tail 310 was introduced in 1960 if my memory is correct. Wonder if it was fixed and is still flying.

Phone? What phone?
