Not mine, but I thought it was an interesting ad, if maybe a little over-priced (feel free to comment on price in the thread).

    Also, the write-up is kinda.....interesting.

    65 hp Continental engine
    Completely overhauled
    Log books available

Always in hanger. Has not flown in a few years as it was my grandpas plane. He passed away. Make offer. Can continue hanger rent at existing airport. Canton-Plymouth Mettetal

    Log books available for viewing

Last annual done in 04 per log book but we know he stopped writing stuff down because of handwriting deterioration. Looking into updating inspection now.

Yep. That's about exactly twice what it is worth. ...With an annual.

Nice bird. I suspect we’ll see more of these older airplanes hit the market before the ADS-B mandate goes into effect.

Well, if previous owners have managed to not succumb to the siren call of an electrical system, no need for ADS-B.

Way more pictures (21) including log book pages in the Detroit ad.

Sitting for 15 years? 30K? Lucky to see 10K. Looks like it wouldn't take much to get it in flying shape.

fat chance. So many delusional sellers these days. Almost everyone I call about they are selling because they either haven't or have hardly flown it in years. Hate to break it to you but that engine if not already junk will be making metal in a few hundred hours.

I thought that was not as big of a problem with the Continentals, since the cam is on the bottom end and doesn't rust as quickly. Not so?

That said -- even if the engine is still good, it's way, way over what a long out of annual Champ is going to be worth.

For some reason Continentals seem to weather better than a Lycoming. Not sure if it's a metallurgy thing or what but the reality is after sitting for that long the oil film is long gone regardless of the cam location.

If the grandson is selling, he just probably doesn't have any idea of the value. I was dealing with a fellow that was selling his Dad's or Grandpa's Apache and he was asking $28k. I had him down to $18K before I even looked at the airplane.

He probably just looked at the cosmetics and priced it accordingly not knowing that the annual status and engine inactivity influence the price much more.

    Why?
I don't believe that bird even requires ADSB..
65 Continental does not even have a place to mount a starter and it was certified without electrical.
Nobody has to do ADS-B anything.... Its not going in my airplanes. If I go in class B I will fly someone else's plane that has ADSB :)

That was listed on Facebook Marketplace here in the Detroit area last week. He was asking 30k, but a couple days ago he changed the listing to 18K and sold. I remember seeing this plane at Plymouth Mettetal airport years ago when I was flying out of there. It was a beautiful plane then!
