Simplest way is to use the "manage attachments" function when you click the Reply or Quote button (it isn't shown in the quick reply box).
Once you click that, a pop-up window appears, and you can select images from your hard drive or from an interwebz source.
These then will show as thumbnails at the bottom of your message, and will expand to full size when the next user clicks on it.
