112WN Oshkosh bound

It had to leave now because at Commander speeds it'll take a few days to get there!!

Bwah ha ha! Of course, the screen is showing he's making 145 knots at 9000 feet... but I haven't looked at the winds aloft in that area to see what sort of push (if any) he might be getting from the winds.

See if I give you a ride in mine...

Man that was cold. Although I always check mine for bird strikes from behind.

112WN should have the turbonormalizer installed by now, right??

I know most people consider it a joke, but I think it fits my mission profile. I wouldn't mind winning it. Or the Sporty's Skyhawk.

Correct Rich,

N112WN is now a HOT SHOT/RCM-TURBONORMALIZED Commander. Steve Ells(AOPA Mag writer) described how the RCM-TURBO increased the airplanes performance, both in speed and altitude. The 9000' and 145kts, as indicated on the screen shot, equates to approx a 7 kt headwind. So, a 152kt aircraft is not fast enough for you guys? You must all be Cirrus drivers, eh?

There you go Nick. The Hot Shot would be extra great for you out there.

Since you're a big guy, you'd probably quite enjoy the interior room in the Commander. On the downside, since you're a big guy, it'd pretty much a 2-seater for you. But if that fits your profile, keep it on the list! I know I can count on one hand the number of times I've had two other people in a plane with me.

Definitely, Rich. If I buy a plane and then win the Commander, you can bet that I'll be keeping the Commander. It fits my profile, and it would be free (aside from taxes). Plus - I'd be one lucky SOB to actually win it.

I don't really want a skyhawk, but if I won Sporty's I'd be pretty happy still.

And Bill's is a factory turbo, right Bill? Didn't you say you routinely get 150kts at FL180? A turbo 112 is definately a plane to consider when comparing Tigers, M20's, etc.

Yes. to both.

I'd take it too if I won. And now that I'm already an owner, I think my chances have gone up :D

What I think I might NOT want though is the repair bills for those EFIS systems. I wonder how much it costs to repair those and the G1000's and Avidyne's when things go bad. A new system is what $40-$50k? OTOH, when your vacuum gyro AI takes a dump, you're looking at < $1k.

Anybody know?
