$1.77B in profit for Delta

Yep, it's making news in Atlanta for some reason. I wonder how solvent some of the smaller vendors are?

Are they gonna give back some of the 9/11 grant money?

Reuters Today said:
The No. 3 U.S. carrier by passenger traffic said second-quarter net profit jumped to $1.77 billion, or $4.49 per share, compared with a loss of $2.2 billion a year before.

Excluding a $1.5 billion gain related to settling claims and revaluing assets, the company posted earnings of 70 cents per share, beating Wall Street estimates of 57 cents per share, according to Reuters Estimates

Oh. They did file bankruptcy though, right? Do the creditors get anything? :dunno:

Yes, and most of them did.

America West and USAir are the big one(s) that took Federal money.

Look, that's grossly overstating the reality. In fact, after you deduct the 1.78b in bonuses and executive special payments, the airline lost $0.1b. It's very misleading to claim that the airline is making a profit when each of their big jets at Hartsfield has to wait for some hotshot in a Cherokee 140 (drinking a $4 latte) to depart. Contrary to what others might tell you, every delayed Delta flight is due to a general aviation hotshot using valuable controlled airspace.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
