    Been diagnosed with ADHD

...'Fast Track' pathway for pilots who meet 2 specific criteria: 1. No history of other psychiatric/mental health condition (anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance use disorder, etc...) 2. No treatment or symptoms for 4 or more years. If you meet these two criteria, you likely qualify for the...

    Another AOPA failure, IMO

...PMs has spoken to me of shooting 4 armed men at point blank range in a small kitchen late one night on the Iraq-Syria border. He does not have PTSD. Another quit an obscenely lucrative position at SpaceX to support his old teammates in the SEAL teams. I can't speak for other companies, but...

How can certified avionics be so crappy?

This gives me severe ptsd. We dealt with the dreaded double red Xs a few years ago with our Aspen. All fixed now, but whenever I see a big red X, all I see is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Is Pre-PTSD Therapy a Reportable Event?

I believe any kind of medical needs to be very careful, The Lord FAA is watching.

Is Pre-PTSD Therapy a Reportable Event?

Does seeing a therapist about issues related to my profession prior to it becoming PTSD require notification to the FAA during my next medical? With mental health being a big topic currently I don’t want to get into a situation of lying on my medical. However, I also don’t want to stir pot...

    Missing Plane Paris, Texas

Excellent post. My wife is a school administrator, and I have heard her say this almost verbatim, but it's absolutely true and the other thing is, thanks to technology it's starting much earlier. The amounts and types of stuff she deals with in a middle school environment is unbelievably brutal...

    Missing Plane Paris, Texas

...their friends are targets and the stories they share with me are heart breaking. No, its not fighting Nazis and I suspect "teenage" pilots successfully returning from winning a war probably had pretty good confidence and also PTSD that they don't talk about. I bet more didn't become CEOs than...

    Life-Changing Bands (or Songs)

...some really really powerful, raw songs. The opening riffs on the Jar of Flies albums gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. And it's hard to not feel a little emotional listening to Nutshell. Rooster is written about Jerry Cantrell's father who was a Vietnam veteran and suffered from PTSD.

Youtube Pilot and her dad perish in TN

It was very difficult watching any of her videos. To treat my ongoing PTSD from that I watch Stevie Triesenberg about once a week. She is at the top of her game, whereas Jenny was at the bottom.

SI for misdiagnosis of Bipolar Disorder

...it's just too easy for a physician to code a visit from the "walking worried" as something like depression, anxiety, personality disorder, PTSD, ADHD and others. Once that appears on a medical record that is reviewed by the FAA it's difficult to correct without considerable time and expense...

    HIMS

...old medical records? Or, are they more interested in the current evaluation itself?/ Multiple evaluations (Psych and AME)? I noticed on the PTSD 'decision checklist' that they're specifically asking yes/no questions going back 2 years. I could easily answer No to all 5-6 questions with...

    HIMS

You'll have some hoops to jump through. I'm in the process now. It's been a few years of psychiatric evals, neuropsychological exams, etc. All reports are favorable but still no decision. Building the team to work on your behalf is very important. Bruce is one of the best. It can be done but you...

...new to this forum so I'm not sure how it's supposed to work. So I'm in a somewhat similar boat, OEF 10 Army Vet, 100% Service Connected for PTSD, except I just started training for PPL and (very fortunately), my CFI gave me a heads up about the class 3 med process. I thought a simple...

    Suicidal ideation

Close friend’s boyfriend (both active duty) committed suicide last week. She was devastated. Somehow suicide seems to be an increasing trend, and not just in the military. I’m reading that nurses have a high rate of suicide compared to the population average.

    Suicidal ideation

That’s one of the strange things about the military suicide stats. Vast majority of them have nothing to do with combat or PTSD. Generally it’s just problems at home. Like my brother, I know a couple of dudes who did it because they were going through a divorce. There’s definitely underlying...

    Suicidal ideation

...who's asking :D Jest aside, I've lost almost as many co-workers to suicide as to aicraft mishaps. It's not an insignificant situation for the military, even in garrison. To wit, none of the suicides I speak of were AFG turkey shoot PTSD related; two were airline lost decade job losses actually.

    Horizon Jumpseater goes crazy

...now. The VA has a disgustingly plurality of the millions of 'tHanK mE fOr mY seRViX' "vets" raking in their 'pass-go collect 200' sleep apnea +PTSD participation tax free pensions, and nobody bats an eye. Remember, these are folks maligning (false positive), which is the diametric opposite...

5000 Pilots suspected of hiding health issues

Quite a change from my day, and it wasn't THAT long ago. The only people I was ever aware of getting a VA rating were nearly crippled and chaptered out for medical. No one solicited us about disability at out processing, either.
