Some scenery packages require "Open Scenery X" (free) to be installed. It's essentially an object database developers use to create the airport sceneries. Double check if that's required, otherwise I'm not sure. I'm new to X-Plane as well!
Same here. I used to be a line guy for an FBO that hosted a B-17 every year. The last few flights would be free rides for all the volunteers and FBO employees. Very cool, but wouldn't pay $400 to go up.
I have the HTC Evo and love it. Huge improvement coming from a Blackberry. However, 4G coverage has been very spotty, even in areas claimed to have solid service by Sprint.
That is one of my favorite aviation quotes!
Anyway, I usually leave a day or two open (free from work) at the end of a long trip to allow for some wiggle room in case things don't go as planned.
