    Dark Aero 1

I like these guys and their thoroughness but begin to wonder why they don't start flying the damn thing. They keep tinkering with (apparently) little stuff that was maybe not optimal but seemed good enough. Frankly, I doubt that funds are a big concern for them, otherwise they would have...

    U.S. experimental insurance to Greenland

Would you mind sharing the broker you worked with?

Should I buy a plane... or Not?

I clicked 'yes' before even reading your post as this is obviously the correct answer. After reading your post, I am however wondering whether a Cirrus is the right choice. What about a taildragger to offer tailwheel endorsements and to check out local grass strips?

    Towers snitching on aborted take-offs?

I'm wondering the same. Directly from the FAA's AIM website, '3-4-5 Military Operations Areas': 'Pilots operating under VFR should exercise extreme caution while flying within a MOA when military activity is being conducted. The activity status (active/inactive) of MOAs may change frequently...

Lycoming o320 vs. Rotax 915: cost to own

I understand that Van's actually built a Rotax 915 powered RV-9 prototype. The problem was however that this engine is so much lighter than the Lycomings / Continentals it was designed for, that they couldn't make the CG work without significant changes to the aircraft.

    6Y9 2022 Fly in/Camp in

...says the man who hasn't made it to 6Y9 one single time yet! ;) This being said, our interest in flying has indeed dwindled a bit. :( This being said, we hope that things will change soon, as we finally dropped off our Zenith project at a builder's assist center in Florida, to help us wrap up...

    Bahamas Fly-Out Roll Call

Haha, I'm not sure the 'not making sense to us' thing has much to do with my native language, since even other German speakers usually have no idea of what I'm talking about.:D We LOVE Long Island and will be there over the Christmas Holidays. This being said, we love it because there is...

    RV-9 with Rotax 915

Another thing to consider is how long it takes to put them together. The Sling is MUCH faster to build.

Fuel transfer from jerrycan to airplane

That's what we use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08SJC5PL9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1 The pump is rechargeable.

    Air Compressor

+1 We had two of them for years and also use them professionally on our job sites. MUCH quieter than pretty much anything else on the market, no issues whatsoever. To fill tires or check the compression of your engine, the smallest size is more than sufficient...

    DarkAero comes together

Here is a video in which they discuss the wind tunnel testing and the simulations that went into the development of the aircraft:

    DarkAero comes together

That's a killer for us as well. This being said, I doubt that this is a problem for most others. Just look at the RV crowd: They put in the biggest engines, airliner panels, yet the VAST majority rarely uses them for more than the occasional burger run or trip to OSH. Also, while the baggage...

6Y9 2021 Fly In is getting close!

Our Mooney is still down for the annual inspection, but we will be there with our travel trailer! Depending on work and traffic, @Skywalker and I will arrive (very) late Friday night or Saturday morning and stay until Monday! Can't wait to see everybody again! :):D

    I thought I wanted a Mooney...

Hey Tim, it's not that you don't know somebody with a Mooney, right!? These guys might even live pretty close to you.... If you don't like the sitting position, a Mooney might indeed not be for you. Personally, I don't like the high panels of the F and newer models. E and older feel...

    Raptor Aircraft

He just landed at the Holley Mountain Airpark 2A2. I would guess that he still has his airpark home there, which he was trying to sell a few years ago:

    Raptor Aircraft

The descent rate was only around 300 fpm, much less than his usual approaches into Valdosta. I therefore think that this is an indication for a planned stop. M95 also doesn't have weather, I would therefore guess that he overflew the airport to check on the windsock, followed by a teardrop entry...

As of 6/3/21, current used small aircraft market.

Wow! I'm wondering if there is more to the story!? TWTT was a hot seller, they could have certainly increased the prices. I would bet that for +$300k people still would have bought it.

As of 6/3/21, current used small aircraft market.

Are you sure? First time I'm hearing about this, it even appears as whether they have updated their website. 2WTT was selling like hot cakes, they used to be booked out for more than a year. I know they paused this program, due to COVID, but that's about it. Sportsman - 4 Place Backcountry /...

...or even faster if you go full 'builder's assist'. Glasair has, for example, a fully FAA approved '2 weeks to taxi' program for their Sportsman.
