    AN-225 in Charlotte - what a Monster!

I was told it is AOG with a hydraulic problem. I guess that is why it is in the back 40 with some honorable but also non-airworthy company.

    AN-225 in Charlotte - what a Monster!

I drove to KCLT today to mail something and saw this beast on the ramp. Hope I can watch it take off.

    Older DC H10-30 cleaning ?

IMHO, there is nothing better than Deoxit for cleaning electronic contacts. http://www.caig.com/ Or, just use use a pencil eraser and wipe it off with some alcohol and a paper towel.

    Triple Tree fly-in SC00?

I have never been before but I plan to fly down this weekend. It isn't far from KLKR where I am based. I flew over their field a few weeks ago. It is truely an amazing facility.

Too bad they don't test for stupidity, ethics, and alcohol too.

Thanks all .... I have done some more reading and this all makes sense now.

    Urine Test

I hate to reopen such an old thread, but why start a new one? I got some urinalysis test strips from CVS called "Keto-Diastix" that test glucose and ketone. The glucose "pad" reads out in colors labled like this: Negative % 1/10 1/4 1/2 1 2 or more Negative mg/dL 100 250 500 1000 2000 or...

Zulu or Sierra,... what's the difference?

If you mod them with the Oregon Aero hushkits you will find them to be transformed. I did it to mine and they are now the most comfortable passive headsets I have ever worn.

TFR - What would you do...

I agree. That has been a pet peeve of mine for years. The more important it is the harder they seem to make it to read. There is absolutely no reason for them not to just print it in a nice legible font in normal English.

    Weekend Instrument Written Prep Courses

I did one back in the 80s and learned a lot in those two intense days. Made a 98 or so on the test. I still think about things that were presented that weekend. Of course, one of the instructors was Jack Eggspuehler so that helped.

    No more runups

LOL! ... no, just a smart alec. Sorry my lame attempt at humor offended.

    No more runups

Sure, it's heavier. But the lines on many aircraft from the low point of the system to the engine will contain enough fuel to get you into the air if you don't waste it with a useless run up. Happens all to often according to the accident reports.

    No more runups

The only time you shouldn't do a run up is when you are in too big a hurry to sump the tanks either. That's so when the engine quits from the water in the fuel that you didn't know about it will happen at a higher altitude because you didn't waste the fuel in the lines by doing the run up. That...

    Engine breakin

I had chrome cylinders on a rebuild once. They never did break in. Replaced them with steel and it broke right in and everything went perfect. I hate chrome cylinders. I wouldn't put them on a lawn mower. I'm just sayin' ..... :skeptical:

Excellent input from all ... thanks much! After doing more research I must agree that the PM1000// or PM3000 would be better choices. I was hoping to do it before my vacation in a couple of weeks but I guess will have to stick with the portable for another couple of months.

    Lots of old planes

That is a great collection of photos. Thanks! I think it was cool how metal airplanes were allowed to revel in their metalness by just being naked back then. Think I'll strip the Rat Bird. It looks like crap anyway and I can't afford to paint it.

In my case I had a cooperative A&P/AI in the next hanger to do the paperwork. He was also the guy I bought the airplane from. The kit was fun to build. If I remember correctly I sent it back to RST after it was done and they adjusted all it's internal pots with their test gear and sent it back...

Thanks for the input, Jim. I built one of your audio panels back in the 80's and put it in my first Mooney when I "updated" the panel. It worked great!
