    FS: 1948 Luscombe 8E

Whatever you can get in one ;-). I am serious about that. They are hard to fly over gross because you just can't get it in there. My 8E weighs 915 with a gross weight of 1400. Deb

    FS: 1948 Luscombe 8E

There are no mods, but Luscombes are very straight forward to land. I have found the Silflex gear to be a little more forgiving. Deb

    FS: 1948 Luscombe 8E

Mr. Cooper, Many speculators have come out of the woodwork. One liked my airplane but wanted a Luscombe with a blue stripe. He did pick my brain about polishing. Another made an appointment to come see it, but his wife said no. Another had two hours of tailwheel time, and wants a museum...

    C-85-12 Generator failure

Hope you enjoy your Luscombe! Good luck chasing down the charging issue. Hopefully, it's a simple fix. Deb

    C-85-12 Generator failure

I have really enjoyed my Plane Power alternator in my 8E. It was a joy to replace the old generator. There were always issues. I bought mine straight from Plane Power for $750. They were offering a special, and I got a $200 rebate. A sweet deal! However, that was several years ago. I have...

Taildraggers - What's the big whoop?

I had this experience with 40 degrees of flaps on my old C-172. If I couldn't get the speed pegged at 65 mph or less, I could not pull up that last 10 degrees of flaps. I also found the 180 to be heavy on the rudder. That's why I enjoy flying my light and agile Luscombe. Deb

    Believe it or not...

I sure hope this works out. The local mechanic was just telling this poor owner that he will have to overhaul his perfectly good engine to be legal. Deb

    Favorite classic 2 seat taildragger

Silly question. Luscombe. The rag wing 8A flies a little better than the 8E. Deb

    Woodruff,SC Triple Tree Fly-ins

We went Friday and Saturday and had a blast! It was one of the best fly-ins I've ever attended (and we have attended a lot). Mr. Pat treated us like guests and steak night should not be missed! We didn't have any issues on arrival or departure. Our controller both times was great. I...

"Practicing crosswind landings is like practicing bleeding before surgery"

I once saw three groundloops in two days at our airport, and the wind was only about 15 mph. It was funky though. I was sitting in my Luscombe waiting to depart when the last one happened, an L-2 flung itself into the kudzu and nearly over the steep bank. I radioed the FBO that the gentleman...

    Maule ground loop

I once allowed an instructor to land my Luscombe. He did a good job until he took his feet off the rudders on the roll out. An experience I don't think I will ever forget. :-0 Deb

    Maule ground loop

He had no success. He groundlooped. After a handful of hours overlooking the nose of a light tail wheel airplane, I'm pretty sure the crosswind was minimal. And we wonder why our insurance is so expensive. Deb

"Practicing crosswind landings is like practicing bleeding before surgery"

Once upon a time, I was young and cocky and thought I could land my Luscombe in just about any wind conditions. It is a very responsive, forgiving taildragger. Then one day, I took my Lester for a local flight. The winds were forecast to increase during the day, but instead of gradually...

    Maule ground loop

I may be looking at it wrong, but he was pretty much lined up with the runway on that long, long final without the need for much correction (I didn't see much, if any). If there had been much crosswind, he would have been blown over. While there may have been gusts, it just looks like he...
