    Thanks a lot, Ukraine

I'm more concerned of security theater by clamping down access of private vehicles/people easily through FBOs and unlocked gates at GA airports.

    Thanks a lot, Ukraine

Been a long time since OKC. Long before DHS and TSA existed. TSA has been spotted in freaking train stations in recent years; they'll set up shop anywhere.

iFly EFB questions, ipad vs android

I really liked iFly for VFR. Their smart routing was awesome.

    Thanks a lot, Ukraine

How long til TSA comes for us in the GA world? We've avoided the security theater for the most part, but things like this hit to the heart of the GA argument that the planes are too small to be weaponized...

What is the best way to study for the Instrument Written Test?

The subject lone of the thread is for instruments. Shepard Air doesn't have a PPL course.

What is the best way to study for the Instrument Written Test?

For me, after Sportys and taking almost a year off, it took me a 3 day weekend on Shepard Air to finish up. It was much better than Sporty's in the questions verses the actual test. I scored a 95 on the real one. Just follow their directions carefully. Ill be honest, I did about 30% of the final...

VFR drills to help with IFR training?

Pattern B. Look it up. Thank me later.

PPR and Landing Fee Nonsense Again in Vegas for Superbowl

I wonder what Louisville's charges are for the KY Derby each year. They have a ridiculous amount of GA aircraft flying in, so much so they turn taxiways into aprons at SDF, completely fill up LOU, and across the river Clark County completely fills, too. I've never heard of complaints there for...

Electric 4 seater made by Hyundai

But are they willing to pay hundreds of dollars to save that one hour. I would be willing to bet very, very few would. Which is why heliports in the US are so rare outside of lower Manhatten. It's just too freaking expensive.

Electric 4 seater made by Hyundai

Here's my rub. We have air taxis already. They're called Helicopters. Unless electric powered ones can make it as cheap as $20 across town, there is no business model that will make these profitable in any city other than the ones that ALREADY have helicopter air taxi services (NYC, for...

    Am I being unreasonable?

I've had my first 3 IFR lessons in the plane in the last week. We're following the Cessna IFR lesson plan. So far we've combined some of the lessons, so I'm finished with step 5 after 3. For what its worth, he told me to not retract flaps on the runway, too. Said wait until after the hold bar...

What is the best way to study for the Instrument Written Test?

Welp, all I can say is trust the process. Just passed IFR written with a 95%. Woohoo!

Flight instruction recommendations - Houston, TX?

https://www.flytigers.net/ is at Ellington Field. I don't know who else is there, but they seem to have a good reputation.

What is the best way to study for the Instrument Written Test?

That's a good point I hadn't thought about yet. Then again, when I took my PE exam many years ago the odds were there'd only be 2 geotechnical questions...there were 8 and I damn near fell out of my chair because I punted on those during the studying!!

What is the best way to study for the Instrument Written Test?

I've watched the vids; I'm getting better at it, but not great. I do a lot better in the cockpit for VOR tracking. At least I've figured out the hold entries, for the most part.

What is the best way to study for the Instrument Written Test?

Im currently working through the Shepard Air grind. I dont know how I'm going to pass this test with this method... I've never been one to memorize well; I need to know the how and why, and rhen I can think through about anything. I took a ground school course, too, and thought I understood the...

New Aviation Weather Center web page

It's definitely harder to find things, but once you figure it out, it works really well on mobile (which I think was their main intent). That being said...I use Windy. The app just gives me what I need a helluva' lot easier. I'll still check the AWC for prog charts, but even that I rarely do...

    Who's Gonna Pay For That?

The L-861(L)s are LED. I'd be happy to talk offline on what system you have and what might be another way of upgrading over time. Never know.

    Who's Gonna Pay For That?

Open bids for construction projects. My company designs airfields. I have bids on our design projects from all over the US. We don't use AV-70s; those little suckers are expensive! I haven't used this brand specifically, but they're showing price of $180.15 for a L-861, white globe...
