I know its accelerated at Synergy & the like - I talked to them at length - its their price (and location) that are the killers - I was saying it would still take me years (likely) if I was to attempt to re-create the mentoring type experience Synergy offers ... but do it in my own garage.

Now this I could do if I could find someone to help me this much. That's what I've been wondering: is there a way to sort of create the Synergy Air builder assist program in my own garage & save money (they want tons of $$ for their program/space/tools).

Now that sounds like something I could do - just not sure I can afford to pay someone for that much time to stand over my shoulder all day for years educating me & demonstrating new skills & making sure I do it all correctly/safely.

Wish I could find an RV 10 for sale. The last 2 went for super high prices. Of the two listed now, one has been sold, the other is out of the country (S. Africa I think)

Exactly my question - b/c it was very recently announced that the RV 10 kit will soon start shipping with match drilled holes like the 12 and 14 kits have had now for a while (which has made so many ppl rave about how much easier that makes them & time it saves them)

I have heard/read from a few sources that its ok for an owner/builder to pay friends or others to help as long as the ppl they pay aren't professionals (in which case they couldn't do more than 49% of the build). Is this true? If so, is there any reason why someone couldn't pay other home...

I'll research the 'helper' option & obv wouldn't go down that road if it isn't legal or legit to classify as home built, for education etc - amateur built - etc. I've looked for RV 10's to buy - nothing on trade a plane or controller now (2 listings, one is sold, the other is in S. Africa)...

agreed ... for 2-3 days now I've been on a Mooney kick ... but I'm wondering instead if I shouldn't keep my pa 28 140 for a bit & hire some amateur (not technically commercial, but skilled amateur) help & build an RV-10 within 2 years using a QB kit - that's the plane I REALLY want.

Lol - Tantalum nailed it with his entire comment. He gets it. That Tiger does have a clean looking cockpit in the pics ... but if you click on the other pics, the rest of the cabin and 1950's body and paint is fugly as f lol. Clearly N1120A is a tiger fan boy, and I'm sure its a great plane...
