I spoke to somebody on here a couple of years ago about the possibility of renting a plane to take my family up around the Bangor/ Bar Harbor area, but couldn't find any place to do a checkout and rent an airplane from. They suggested I contact the flying club in Bangor, which I did. Good news...

Thank You! I have to say, all the hood time and unusual attitude stuff was fun for me. I know there was a lot more technical stuff to learn and understand, but for me instrument was fun! They call it "the hard one" but I had a harder time with private, since flying a plane was so new to me...

Got my instrument rating today. Man does it feel good to have that one out of the way! Ground was good, then went out and flew with some pretty good bumps and wind. All in all it was fun! wasn't the prettiest checkride ever, but it's done!

I have the Zulu 2 and love it! I haven't tried Bose, but have been told by friends who use them the ANR is great, as is the comfort. I couldn't imagine wielding the cinder block of a control unit on the PFX, what with CG/ weight concerns and all haha. I do love my Zulus though...just right...

Thanks for the info! I talked to Mainecoastalflight.com, they said they don't rent them to pilots to take on their own. I figured on some instructor time to get checked out, so thats not a problem. G1000 172 you say? niiiice!
