I rarely fly below 10k, think you'll be fine. I don't pull out the nosetubes til the FAA legal required altitudes - I think they did fine when they assigned those levels.

I try to open and confirm viewability of every chart & iap, sid, star that I might be using, including alternates before every flight now. It would give me the shivers to open a ‘failed chart’ in flight.
