    Critique my comms?

Sounds good to me. I usually just say "Looking" or "Looking for the traffic" though. Also you don't have to say "will maintain visual separation," after reporting the traffic in sight.

Flight to Half Moon Bay from KEDU with some crappy narration

That's awesome I would love to get checked out in that plane.

    The Final Countdown

I wonder how a modern carrier would be effected if it lost all GPS capabilities though...

    4 Basics

Yah I am talking about apparent weight, like, the weight of something while submerged in a fluid. If you have a ball, that completely sinks in water, that means that the force of gravity on the ball (mg) is greater than the buoyant force of the water. If they ball floats, it means the buoyant...

    4 Basics

I think you could see it as a problem like a buoyancy problem, so the apparent weight of the plane is the mass times the gravity (mg) minus the lifting force (Fl). So: Wapp = mg - Fl So the apparent weight changes depending on the difference between those forces, so while you are climbing you...

Flight to Half Moon Bay from KEDU with some crappy narration

Haha oh yah I thought it would be foggy, could you see the lights through the fog? We went over and did some circles over downtown sac, it was pretty peaceful, at least for me my passenger didn't have a headset.

    Your dumbest aviation moment?

This is exactly what happened to me during my first flight after getting checked out in the 172. I had never used the 430 before so I had no idea what was going on.

How many have no intent on IFR rating?

I think along the West coast (dunno about the other side of the country) it is really helpful if you ever want to fly to one of the many oceanside airports with any reliability, there is a very consistent marine layer of fog that pushes inland for a few miles along the entire coast. Also I just...

I think if you want to get in VFR it has to be after noon during the summer!

There's a pilot at our flight school in Davis who is also an AME and does everyone's medicals there. http://www.suttermedicalfoundation.org/dr-jkraig-katzenmeyer.html?utm_medium=local&utm_source=google_plus-local&utm_campaign=local-Davis-SMGD136 I was there too! My first time as well, I...

First post ever in this area of the board...

We are in the same boat! Although I have got about 40 hours in since my PPL, which I actually recommend that you do before you jump completely into the IR training. The extra time will make you much more proficient in basic control of the airplane and radio operations, which you have to have as...

Flight to Half Moon Bay from KEDU with some crappy narration

Thanks! I have made some videos in the past but always just video set to music. This was the first time with a gopro which vastly improves the quality I think. Also after watching enough "Flight Chops" videos (he makes analysis flying videos on youtube, very awesome channel) I was inspired to...

Flight to Half Moon Bay from KEDU with some crappy narration

Just made this flight yesterday after a long time of wanting to go to KHAF. It was a beautiful flight, and I put together a couple videos and photos that my passenger took with an attempt at narration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VdO8Ji7szI&list=UUUWXyB-JSy-h21azdNTZx7g

    Weekend trip.

Didn't expect to see another EDU pilot on here! I'm planning on a flight to Half Moon Bay tomorrow if the weather allows, and if it is fogged in, I am planning to go to Columbia. Nice photos, gotta remember to bring my camera with me this time.

Link to let friends track my flight tomorrow?

I recommend you don't go direct, and go via Santa Barbara, and Big Sur, then probably along the east side of the SFO bravo. Much more interesting things to see out the window.

    Newest airmen in Sacramento

Yah you really gotta be careful of that marine layer. I am a new pilot and I already had a scary brush with it getting out of Santa Cruz. Also, I think my next XC is going to be to Columbia, what ghost town are you speaking of?

    Cessna 172 Checkout

I did the same thing, I feel much more comfortable now after about 10 hours in the 172, but still don't feel at home like in the 152. I don't know the performance as innately as the 152, but I love being faster and comfier with a GPS.

Link to let friends track my flight tomorrow?

My first XC as a student pilot was to Lampson! Recently I made the trip down to Santa Paula in a cessna 152, it was an awesome flight, even better if you go up the coast.

    Reporting low altitude aircraft?

Holy cow! The people in this thread are crazy! If someone is doing something dangerous and stupid then yes report them and make them stop. It doesn't matter if they are doing aerobatics over a city or weaving down the freeway at 110mph. Obviously use sound judgement and don't report someone for...
