    Flip Flop Button

If it always takes 2 presses make sure your button is a momentarily contact type and NOT an on/off button. The on/off type will have you press once for contact and press again for disconnect. Chris

    Sorrell Hiperbipe

The Hiperbipe has two tanks; 26 gallons with a fixed pick up and 13 gallons with a flop tube. In the "Super Nova" Hiperbipe Joann flew there were flop tubes in both tanks. She also doubled up the tail brace wires for some reason... 7HT has full inverted fuel and oil. Also has a 7 gallon smoke...

Yes they are a hoot to fly. Yes the fuselage is a lifting surface. And yes they are stable...except in the yaw axis. The oddest thing to get used to is the rudder; poke right pedal and the nose slews right. And stays there. Same to the left. Kind of like a Bell 47 or Hiller helicopter. After a...

Why are these planes still using toxic fuel?

Personally, I'd welcome the return of lead in paint, fuel and everything else... Contrary to what we were told, since removing lead from everything the kids have just gotten dumber... Chris

Why are these planes still using toxic fuel?

Just wait until someone tells these idiots all the toxic crap involved in manufacturing and use of their battery powered replacement technology... Oh wait... I'm not sure that would be reported... Chris

    NAV121 VOR fixable?

Beware a fellow named Keith in Texas that advertises on Barnstormers... He DID fix my MX12 but getting him to accept payment took 4 weeks. No cash, no Credit Cards, no personal checks, refused a Certified check because he said it was fake (wouldn't even take it to his bank) played phone tag with...

    V-Twin Down Janesville

Not all loss of thrust issues are engine related. And unfortunately one of the drawbacks of pusher airplanes is that everything kicked up on the runway goes thru the prop. I rebuilt 32XL, a Velocity XL with an IO540 for the owner. Almost every time it flew there were new nicks and gouges in the...

Feeling in over my head now

I would think a nose oil seal will put oil outside (on the windshield) but the oil will also be on the front of the cowling... A case seam or other engine seal will oil up the inside of the cowl and maybe allow a bit outside thru the top rear of the cowling. If you do have a nose seal installed...

    Field Overhaul on Lycoming 235-C2C

A good half-way point is upgrading the 108 hp -C2C into an 125 hp -L2C Sparrowhawk conversion... STC paperwork and new pistons and jugs (same as the Cessna 152, Traumahawk) and a different prop or re-pitch yours... Nothing hard about finding parts. Great little engine. No more or less prone to...

    12/16/20 Louisiana Cherokee 2 fatalaties

Kenny, Unless his CFI wrote a solo endorsement of " cleared to fly with passengers at night in any kind of weather including hard IFR..." in the young man's logbook I don't see what any CFI could have done to prevent this tragedy. The "C" in CFI doesn't stand for Clairvoyant. The best training...

Another MX Issue - Story of My Life....

Sounds like a bad master/alternator switch to me. Jumper the alt side of the switch or put a temporary switch on that wire. Bad switch contacts (and CB contacts too! ) will cause the problems you describe as well as the annoying "ammeter dance" you spoke of... Chrs
