    Requirements to enter Class A; B; C; D

Are they transponding 7600? If so, and I'm taking a WAG here, that once tower sees you have no radio and they reply with the light gun, that would satisfy the requirement to establish communications?

    Requirements to enter Class A; B; C; D

He asked what are the requirements for entering controlled airspace. I replied that A requires IFR and B requires clearance, and C and D require you establish communications. His reply" NO!" you must have clearance for all controlled airspace! I tried to interject, "But, but, but..." but...

    Requirements to enter Class A; B; C; D

I'm beginning to think that I need to go with a different instructor. Like, maybe I got off on a bad start with this one and it's not worth trying to salvage it?

    Requirements to enter Class A; B; C; D

Right. Class A requires an IFR flight plan and that always requires clearance prior to entering. Class B, under VFR, requires clearance prior to entering. Class C and D requires only that communications be established, as in entering Class D: Me: "Martinsburg tower, N123AB 10 north inbound...

    Requirements to enter Class A; B; C; D

During the ground school portion of my BFR, the instructor asked me to describe the requirements for entering A; B; C; and D airspace. I replied that A and B always requires specific clearance before entering, but as a VFR pilot, C and D airspace requires only that communications with the...

Showing off? Looking for a place to land?

No, no, no, no, no! So sad a life was lost. Fortunate no one else, and no other property was put at risk. These are the type of incidents that give GA a bad reputation. Having said all that, idiots get behind the wheel of a car and do similarly stupid antics in an automobile every...

    Stupid Mistake

It seems that it's only a matter of time before we do that one thing that really gives us pause and makes us realize that we are human and will make mistakes. Those reality reminders can be a wake up call to bring our focus back to where it needs to be.

    Hear your METARs

As we're in the Pilot Training forum, I would suggest that this could be a great tool for students just learning to translate METAR coding. Hearing it spoken, while reading along, could be a real help for anyone feeling challenged by the codiing. Kudos to the developer who is exploring new...

    Nexus 7, Garmin Pilot in a CRJ200?

Recently discoverd Avare and loaded it onto my Nexus. Haven't had a chance to put it through its paces but, on initial impressions, I almost like the interface better than Garmin Pilot, which I sometimes find confusing.

    Nexus 7, Garmin Pilot in a CRJ200?

I presume you're using an external GPS (Ipad doesn't come with built in GPS?) If so, what GPS are you using?

    Are you using a tablet?

    1. Garmin Pilot and also testing out Avare for Android (a free app) 2. Nexus 7. I like the size, built in GPS, display and open development. 3. Person in the right seat holds on to it. 4. Not really needed.

    Nexus 7, Garmin Pilot in a CRJ200?

On a recent commercial flight, I pulled out my Nexus 7 and started up Garmin Pilot...just to see if I could get a sat fix (I had a window seat). No surprise that I couldn't, I guess. Though as we were taking off I was watching our take off roll on Google Maps on my phone. It stayed locked on...
