Finding someone to do maintenance on a Grumman Cheetah/Tiger?

I do use a Grumman expert for my Tiger. That said, unless it has something to do with the unique nature of the Grumman line such as repairing the bonded skin, the honeycomb structure or replacement of a spar, then any competent A&P should be able to handle it With the use of the maintenance...

    Jimmy Buffet Has Gone West

My Dad died from the same type of cancer as Jimmy. Merkel Cell Carcinoma is a type of skin cancer that is very aggressive and usually metastasize into your lymph nodes and internal organs as it did with my Dad. It is a very rare form of cancer that is not well studied. As a consequence, there...

    Reno advise please

We found 1 day was enough. Consider flying into Carson City instead of Reno. The FBO there is pretty nice and Enterprise will drop off a car there. The tie down fee is significantly less than at Reno. The other thing is consider the shuttle bus to the air races. We stayed at the Grand Sierra and...

Okay, call me sexist, rascist, homophobe, xenophobe........

What rock are you hiding under? Evidence, we don’t need no stinkin evidence. Alternative facts and alternative realities are all one needs and they are every bit as good and valid as facts and evidence. And if you repeat them long enough and loud enough, it might just become reality for many...

Escrow and title search and common sense.

They probably are also assisting with the new FAA registration, ensuring the bank’s lien is properly recorded, reviewing the policy of insurance to make sure the bank is the payee and otherwise protected, and that any sales tax or property is collected and paid so there will be no tax lien. Yep...

Okay, call me sexist, rascist, homophobe, xenophobe........

My brother in law works for Microsoft. They are now required to put preferred pronouns in their e-mail signatures, voicemail greetings and when they introduce themselves in Team (Zoom) meetings. So like “he/him”, “she/her” or any of the 3rd person variations. What happened to just using names...

Anyone else going to the Reno air races this year?

Listen to you wife. Carson City is way better than RNO. Cheaper gas and tie downs plus you should be able to rent a car through Enterprise and have it delivered to the FBO. Only other advice is take the bus to the air races. Very easy and convenient.

Anyone else tired of hearing about eVTOL?

When investors dry-up which may be a while. I am guessing there are lots of either free money, government loan guarantees or tax advantaged money provisions (e.g. tax credits) in the infrastructure bill recently passed or will be in the upcoming budget that will continue to support these...

    Reporting Crewmember Incapacitation?

Ron is like cod liver oil some of us used to be forced to take when we were children. Good for the body but tastes like hell. Ron is mostly right, but his style and delivery certainly turns a lot of people off. And his constant obsession with citing Chief Counsel opinions as though they were...

    Flying overweight

My AG5B Tiger was ferried from the factory to the UK in 1991. I still have the ferry permit. My GW is 2400lbs and I believe the ferry pilot was close to 3500lbs. What gives me a sense of security is knowing my plane could structurally handle that much excess weight. So if I am at or near gross...

    Young adults and driver’s licenses

Got my first driver’s license at 14 in Nevada. A lot of western states permitted driver’s licenses at 14 for farm kids. There were some limitations as I recall but not many. When we moved to Washington, it made taking Driver’s Ed interesting and the instructor used to make me drive so he could...

Army surveillance aircraft - what does it do?

The Taliban may have them, but can they fly them? Is there any credible data that says the Taliban has the capability of using the captured aircraft? I know in Vietnam, there was limited skills until the Russians and to a lesser extent the Chinese could train pilots. Second, I thought for...
