A challenging "How do I / Can I log this flight time?"

Holy hell. This is why I stopped coming to this site. Ryanb, your posts never once referenced the regulations. I suppose I should have worded my question a little differently to read "What regs allow or disallow logging of this flight time? and if loggable, in what way may I log it?" I had...

A challenging "How do I / Can I log this flight time?"

The reason for this post is to make sure it's legitimate. I'm perfectly happy with not logging it. Thanks

A challenging "How do I / Can I log this flight time?"

I've been told, and my reason for this post is to verify that, since it's a typed aircraft and the supervising pilot is an ATP the time is loggable.

Thank you for that. Makes sense.

A challenging "How do I / Can I log this flight time?"

No, of course not. I don't care so much about the PIC as I do just being able to log the time. It's valuable and expensive experience. The goal of my aviation "career" at this time is part time CFI and charter pilot since I have a good career already. I was hoping to be able to reference...

A challenging "How do I / Can I log this flight time?"

Isn't it A or B or C (with the referenced AND at the end of C2). Perhaps I need a lesson on reading the regs.

A challenging "How do I / Can I log this flight time?"

That was my initial take on it as well until I reviewed 61.51. Because the aircraft requires a type rating, and the other pilot is an ATP / CFI, I believe c(2) and d apply.

A challenging "How do I / Can I log this flight time?"

EDIT: My question has been answered. The answer is NO. Thank you mjburian for actually referencing regulations. There's special circumstances that apply to type-rating required aircraft regarding training, but only under 121 or 135 operations. And that specific part was the purpose for...

IR Training XC - more than 3 approaches / stops?

Good point, thanks! All 3 of the routes I'm considering have the furthest airport more than 50nm away.

    That's what I figured. Thanks!

IR Training XC - more than 3 approaches / stops?

The way I read the regs it sounds like it doesn't specifically say you need to go to 3 different airports, only that you need to do 3 different types of approaches, and one an approach at each airport. So, no more than one at an airport so 2 airports (2 approaches is rules out by the "An...

Alternative Fuels Are Not The Future

I want diesels setup to burn Jet-A! I'm thinking I'd like to build an RV-10 around one but so far I haven't found an engine that I think fits. the turboprops are just too damn expensive and are too thirsty.

    Fun with Deer...

My last PPL student XC was to Portage, WI. I did a low approach because, well I was a student and didn't get setup for landing early enough, when I came around again I landed and all was well. Started to taxi back and deer crossed behind me. I taxied to them and ran the engine up a bit to...

    Engine temp did not rise?

Don't add oil right after running the engine unless you know you are still a quart or so low. it takes time for oil to drain back.. I've seen about a 1/2 qt rise in oil on the stick by letting the plane sit for a few hours. More oil = more coolant in the thing so the temp will take longer...
