Use whatever runway you want at non-towered field, within regulation. Like said above wait your turn, when clear, announce your intentions and blast off. I have taken off downwind, departing traffic upwind...no other aircraft, plenty of runway...away you go. Not a big deal. Have fun.

I fly out of Houston Executive on the westside under the Class B. Use Houston Approach all-the-time, their supervisor is a GA pilot, I know him and his family, great great guy. Great group of controllers. Just tell them, what you want to do....if they ask...coming in from the north on flight...

Departing La Porte you don't need to call CD if your VFR, just treat it like any other non-towered airport. Stay outa Bravo until cleared in, if you pick up flight following. Its listed there for IFR departures to get clearances.

Departing LaPorte VFR, you dont need to call clearance delivery. You aren't being "cleared" into anything. Give Houston Approach a call after departure for flight following, great people. Have fun.

I have rarely used EFAS but it will be easier to get now....122.0 was/is hit or miss reception...now just find a FSS frequency that will work and get the advisory. Flight Watch is still there....just not the dedicated 122.0 freq.

Flight Following two weeks ago, similar story. I informed the controller I had the other aircraft visually after it passed below me. He said apologetically...radar services unavailable below my altitude.
