    Ultralight Part 103

I meant all ultralight / rotax powered / light sport type aircraft. Kolbs have a fairly good record.

    Ultralight Part 103

Kolbs are very much alive and popular. I always liked the design of them. This was me flying my old one a couple years ago...it was the Firestar II. If you pay attention and do things correctly they aren't as dangerous as they are made out to be.

    Wheel Landings

Every tailwheel airplane ive flown does well with a tail-low wheel landing. It allows for soft and slow touchdowns. For a given low power setting over the runway the only reason the aircraft is still flying is due to the angle of attack increasing at it decelerates. Use pitch to "flare"...

    Wheel Landings

Do everything the same as you normally would, except instead of pulling the throttle to idle...give it enough just to make the engine make some noise (just off idle). Lower the mains softly onto the pavement with pitch.... but doing it so that the tail is still off the ground. The engine being...

    Henry Arms .22 w/ Brick

True...they are even worse. I will admit that while the Bass Pro near me (Ft Lauderdale / S FL) seems overpriced...while the one I just visited in Indiana was better. But like you said...Gander is bad, but then again so are most of the gun stores around me. Either way...I buy everything from...

Is a Tailwheel Endorsement worth it?

Getting your tailwheel endorsement may or may not be worth it...but truly being proficient in tailwheel aircraft is absolutely worth it. The endorsement is only the beginning of the learning process.

    C172 chirp on landing?

Chirp can vary within the tire itself depending on brand, model, tread amount...etc. It could be possible the tires on the 172 are just more chirpy than the Piper's.

    Which aircraft retains value best?

Ones that have already depreciated completely. For example; older taildraggers in the 20-30k region, Cessna 180's...etc.

the road to my (your?) own LearJet

Lear 35's are barely chartering anymore...there is definitely no market for a 25. Not to mention it would be a maintenance nightmare. Every time you fly, things will break. A 25 will need anywhere from 50 to 250,000 in maintenance each year. Here are some other yearly figures: Hangar: 24,000...

    Blown Tire on Landing

Its possible the tube was pinched while taxing and it was flat when you landed. I had this happen to me in a 182 once....tire was in perfect shape and pressure on the ground...flew ~1.5 hrs and landed with it already flat as it leaked all the air out during the flight.
