KFDK to KDMW

I'm planning to fly from KFDK to KDMW (20NM).
I wonder which ATC I need to contact after I leave D airspace of KDFK. If I contact KDMW 15NM west that doesn't give me any indication of any traffic.
Any advice ?

You don't need to talk to anybody. Once clear of the FDK class D you are in class E airspace. You can call Potomac Approach 125.525 if you want but you'll probably be in the Carroll County pattern by the time you get identified and the like.

Tune in 122.7 and listen. Might want to get awos too, 121.25

Potomac....but don't be surprised if they won't answer you. They answer work load permitting.

a 20nm trip will be over before you know it. as soon as you clear the Class D dial up the Carrol Cnty AWOS on 121.25, get the wx and tune into the CTAF on 122.7. listen for traffic, make your announcements and approach as you’ve been taught, keep your head on a swivel and you’ll be fine.
