To the OP. Have you flown with modern noise-canceling headsets? Using ANR (active noise reduction) headsets and making sure you get a GOOD seal (eyeglasses temples break the seal, as does a baseball cap) can make a huge difference.

The old ones. Not Zulus. I eventually threw away two Lightspeed ANR headsets. Glad to hear that the Zulus are better.

I've had Lightspeeds (4 sets), and had them repaired. Lightspeed is good with repairs. I think that's because they have a lot of practice. :( I now use Bose.

Thunder woke me up at 4:00am. I got up and started working. Rain and T-storms for the second day. It's okay, because the plane is in the shop. Getting it ready after buying it a couple of weeks ago. Got plans for trips, you know. Weather doesn't matter. Any day you wake up is a good day!

Maybe it's worth a separate thread, but I've noticed that there seems to be a fairly high percentage of pilots who own/like/shoot guns and are into the shooting sports. Maybe something about personality types who value self reliance, or we just like interesting tools we can master. Dunno.

Interesting fact: According to the FBI UCR and other sources, it appears that the police shoot the wrong person five times more often than do non-law enforcement folks. Different situations, to be sure. Just an interesting data point.
