    Transitioning to electronic logbook

I recently did it. Went with option 3 above. That still took a lot of time, and a few details get left out of course, but glad I finally did it. All electronic now but I miss paper log books. Something satisfying about them…..

    National Association of Realtors verdict.

Seems like an old model designed for one thing - protect realtors. Some argument I’m sure about protecting the public, blah, blah, blah. Similar to car dealerships, which varies by state, but in this day and age not being able to buy without a middle man is stupid. Obviously there would be...

    Looking to build an airplane

Get a 172. Fly it a lot. Go places with your family. Then get a 182. Or heck start there. We have flown all over the country in our 182. Started in a 172 and flew it all over the country too. Took a month and travelled the west one year. Many trips west and south. All an adventure and...

    Taxiing into a hangar

I used to do it out of a narrow redneck t-hanger until one day one wheel hit just enough of a bump to send the hor stab into a pole. I quit doing it after that.

    Best and Worst C182 Models

My 73 P model is the sweet spot. Really. As explained above. Like all of us I’ve contemplated what’s next since I got it 16 yrs ago, but really tough to beat without going crazy. Really stunning what you can carry compared to just about every other SEP. Not fast, but long range.

    Grand Canyon tour

I’ve done it in a “normal” 172 fully loaded - not at gross because of a couple of hrs of fuel burn coming south out of central Utah. July. Fairly early a.m. Complete non-event as far as the plane is concerned. Totally awesome for us. Done it many times in the 182. It really is spectacular.

Coming soon to an airport near you: Activists attacking planes

A lot of todays BS would be solved with a whole lot of ass beatings. There aren’t consequences for this behavior. Well, not where they do it anyway.

    Superventricular Tachycardia

My 16 yr old son (athlete) has it, seems to be triggered by adrenaline. Doing the ablation this summer. Was told if he was a couch potato probably wouldn’t have even known it was there. Doing the surgery vs drugs for life. Apparently the surgery (Cincy Childrens) is a non-event and he can...

182Q upgrade Avionics, or upgrade to 182T?

I have a 182P - in my view the best of the 182s. Have had it for 15 yrs, and in those 15 yrs always thought about “what’s next”. Was a great family hauler all over the country, now the twins are 16 and grown men size-wise. Always thought I’d end up needing a 6-seater, but turns out I just...

    Comm Rating

so back to the OPs question - this is what I used. Took and passed written a few weeks ago. I liked Gleim.

AZ/NM places to visit or near airports to fly into?

AEG (ABQ) to Shiprock to Page then north over a Grand Canyon corridor then back south through another will be one of the most amazing days of your life.

    Commercial written (mild rant)

I took it a few weeks ago. Quite a bit on the test that I hadn’t seen in prep (Gleim), and honestly I thought I might have failed. Got an 88, which was about my average on all of the pre-tests I took.

Is the 182 the plane for me?

15 yrs in a 182P bought when my twin boys were <1, they’re 15, 180 lbs each, and I’m just now getting to the point I have to start thinking about the W&B. Long-range tanks, which is a lot of fuel - and flexibility. Was sure for a long time that we’d need something bigger, but the 182 still...

    Stutter a disqualifier?

Friend has a kid that wants to be an airline pilot (kid’s probably 20). Has what is described as a minor stutter. Will that be a problem? Thanks!

    Commercial written....

I went with a Gleim online package. I like it. I just need to stick to it.
