Pay attention to AD 96-12-06 which required retarding the timing from 28° to 24° on older cylinders. Be nice to know what you've got. That 4° can make a difference.

Many ways to accomplish this. Another idea, bolt a plate to the firewall and attach the throttle to that. You'd need to countersink an area large enough to accommodate the nut. Disregard, just saw previous post! Must be a good idea :)

You're looking in the wrong place. You need to first consult the parts catalogue and see what Cessna may have as approved options for the lights on your model 182. If they exist, you need to purchase exactly those parts and install them exactly as the IPC shows, including wiring, breakers...

If this was a shop overhaul then they should have put it in a test cell with calibrated gauges and verified the proper operation of the relief valve. You should have also gotten a new spring and ball but perhaps not. With a flaky oil pressure gauge, now replaced, washers removed, etc. you could...

Doug, From your post I'm guessing you don't have a parts catalogue, or service manual that describes the rigging procedure. Please consider finding an A&P that can inspect your work and properly document the repair, in case you weren't going to do that anyway :)

Sure the STC is there but you also need the permission letter. For that you have to pay.

You should be as worried about the wood as you are the engine, and make sure your prebuy mechanic really does know his stuff... has the proper equipment to measure the moisture content in the wood, etc.
