    O-200 Life Expectancy

Were they new in 2003 or just overhauled?

    O-200 Life Expectancy

Pay attention to AD 96-12-06 which required retarding the timing from 28° to 24° on older cylinders. Be nice to know what you've got. That 4° can make a difference.

    Replacing throttle

Many ways to accomplish this. Another idea, bolt a plate to the firewall and attach the throttle to that. You'd need to countersink an area large enough to accommodate the nut. Disregard, just saw previous post! Must be a good idea :)

LED Nav & Strobe Combo Install

You're looking in the wrong place. You need to first consult the parts catalogue and see what Cessna may have as approved options for the lights on your model 182. If they exist, you need to purchase exactly those parts and install them exactly as the IPC shows, including wiring, breakers...

    Using Acrylic For Interior Paneling

Isn't that going to be heavy? You're kidding about the whiteboard, right? :)

    Crack in the starter

You're flying a turbo Skylane or whatever and 1700 bucks bothers you? :) It's cracked, as in unairworthy.

    Oil pressure issues Lycoming O235.

And when the engine was torn down for the cam replacement, was anything done with the crank (ground, etc) and main bearings? Oil pump and gears, etc? Were the same number of washers replaced under the spring? If none of that stuff was touched, and you now have abnormally high oil pressure I would...

What's your idle oil pressure like?

    Oil pressure issues Lycoming O235.

If this was a shop overhaul then they should have put it in a test cell with calibrated gauges and verified the proper operation of the relief valve. You should have also gotten a new spring and ball but perhaps not. With a flaky oil pressure gauge, now replaced, washers removed, etc. you could...

    up limit switch

Doug, From your post I'm guessing you don't have a parts catalogue, or service manual that describes the rigging procedure. Please consider finding an A&P that can inspect your work and properly document the repair, in case you weren't going to do that anyway :)

Buying an airplane that's been sitting

Leonard Nimoy used to own a Super Viking. They must be good, right?

Buying an airplane that's been sitting

He asked for advice, got lots of it from very experienced owners and mechanics...people who have been down this road. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn0WdJx-Wkw

    May have screwed up

Sure the STC is there but you also need the permission letter. For that you have to pay.

Buying an airplane that's been sitting

You should be as worried about the wood as you are the engine, and make sure your prebuy mechanic really does know his stuff... has the proper equipment to measure the moisture content in the wood, etc.

    May have screwed up

There still remains the issue of the STC, unless you are putting this in an experimental aircraft. Buying probes from somewhere else, as interchangeable as they may be, puts you even further away from being able to legally install the analyzer. Try to resell it, you're getting in a ditch.

    best headset for the money?

I vote for the in-ear headsets. I've had both QT and Clarity Aloft and like the CA better. I've flown hundreds of hours with them open-cockpit behind noisy radials with no problem but as mentioned earlier the low frequencies do get through but not enough to bother me. Plus I can easily put...

    What Should I charge

I don't think there's a business model that justifies the purchase of scales to be in the weighing business. However to have on hand like any other expensive shop tool is another matter. How many times have you been brought an airplane with undocumented radio removals, installations, interior...

    Decent Parts websites

The airplane went to the FSDO for a CFI ride. Was grounded on the spot and needed a ferry permit to get it back. Like I said, it was a ridiculous exercise, and I got flagged because I didn't 'catch it' on the previous annual. I don't disagree with you, but the approval was for a Cessna Service...
