Old cheap non digital scanner would work well for the air traffic. Some models from uniden had am/fm radios in them.

Craigslist is your friend. Plus DC has good customer service/warranty so they will fix one if its not up to standards for a very reasonable price.

I have a 2012 f150 quad cab 4x4 for a company vehicle. It has the 5.0 in it. I am very happy with the truck other than the fuel mileage. I average 14.9 mpg, thought it would do a little better than that. Doesn't really bother me as I have a fuelman card. Has plenty of power.

I use full carb heat in the 152 when the engine tells me so. Sputters etc and conditions are right. No gauge.

The closer to the radio the better. You loose more signal the longer cable run you do. Have you tried setting the scanner on top of a cabinet or refrigerator in the garage and see what you can hear with the stock antenna? Outside antenna is always going to be better but if you could hear what...
