Going around the whole country - where would YOU go?

Don't ask, just do it. You'll be famous, and you'll write a book and give a presentation at every gathering of aviators. Let us know about the aliens and Elvis.

    Upside-Down Letters

I now know way more than any pilot should about this subject. I wonder how much whiskey it's going to take to forget it.

Owning a Saratoga with zero time in model and insurance

I self-insured until I had about 60 hours in type, called the agent back and got a way-better rate.

Planning a trip to Airventure 2022

Yes, they have a shuttle service between the university and the airport; very convenient. Chow hall food at the university is great, cheap, all-you-can-eat.

Why are pilots so hesitant to declare an emergency?

    VHF Base Station

Build a wood mock up of your favorite old airplane's instrument panel. Add old worthless instruments that your A&P has laying around (none need to work). Add your radio to the panel. Now, it has the proper context it deserves.

Jets really don’t like flying low...

"Go to 320 and spend an extra 25 min but with enough fuel to be safe." Excellent aeronautical decision making.

WWYD - looking at a PA28 that's been sitting a year after prop strike

IMHO, there are too many unknowns about this aircraft. It's a project aircraft, fit only for those with the skills to do a lot of work on it. The market has plenty of alternatives with a lot lower risk.
