    Is 12.8 AMPs enough ?

The 12A B&C permanent magnet alternator works great in my VariEze. I have a Garmin 480 (2.5A / 5A xmit), an AvMap Ultra EFIS (0.1A!), a LightSpeed electronic ignition (1.5A?), a homemade LED landing light (1A), an SL70R transponder + encoder (1A) and that's it as far as electrical equipment. I...

    Mojave Fly in..?

It's fun! Lots of interesting aircraft. Wait times at the cafe can get pretty long.

    Rotting VORs revisited

Even after the physical VORs go away, will they remain in the databases as three-letter identifiers with associated lat/lon, to be used as GPS waypoints?

    Best way to lose altitude

    Shades of Southwest 1455?

Can you use "Roger" in addition to reading back ATC transmission?

A pilot should *not* read back all ATC instructions. That's a waste of airwaves. Only read back those that are required to be read back, or where there is ambiguity.

ATC help with forced landing- question

Center and TRACON radar isn't accurate enough to vector to a target as small as a farm field, even if a suitable map were available.

    High altitude balloons

Google does some balloon experiments for Project Loon. I know they've flown them over CA and NV, not sure about NM/CO.

Calling FSS while in contact with ATC?

It really helps (at least, it helps me) to have an audio system that can put one frequency in one ear and the other freq in the other.

Anybody flown GA into Miami to go on a cruise?

I've never understood the appeal of a commercial pleasure cruise. I'd much rather sail with Henning.

Commute by Plane (the long version)

For me this sort of commute is a more compelling case for GA than the daily trip to work (although I'm not one of the people saying that is never feasible). Aircraft to look at: Beech Bonanza, Mooney, RV-6/7/10, Long EZ/Cozy, Glasair, Lancair, Cirrus SR22, Cessna 206/210/400 Speed starts to...

    Commute by Plane?

No such language is needed in the op limits. If there were a restriction in the op limits *preventing* you from flying in Bravo, you'd have to obey it - but I've never heard of that. Perhaps you are thinking of something to do with Phase I? @OP: One annoyance with your particular proposed...

    Commute by Plane?

While living in Berkeley and working in Santa Cruz, I commuted in my VariEze from OAK to WVI two round trips a week, for a few months. It was pretty fun. In terms of door-to-door time, it was about equal to driving, mostly because both airports were some distance from home/work. But much more...
