Definitely! I met a good grass guy (deals in sod :-)), who has a C206 and can probably point me in the right direction :-)

Where are some must see places in Texas?

My Air Race partner has the FBOs at Port Lavaca and Victoria and they'll treat you really good too :-)

    Cirrus chute saves another one...

I just got an SR-22 this past summer and went through the VFR and IFR transition training. While Cirrus recommends deploying the chute under many different conditions, if there's any possibility of flying the plane to the ground, that's what I'm going to do. I would much rather be in control...

    Grass strip length

I wish we had some rocks. In this part of Texas there aren't any to be found. We've had to haul all of our gravel for our roads from Oklahoma. I'll definitely check out the harley rake. I agree it's more important to do it right the first time. I'm hoping to get Bermuda grass or something...

    Grass strip length

Hi Diana! It's my old horse pasture. We looked at some of the other areas that you and I saw, but this one is close to the camp so I'll have water and electricity :-). Hopefully it will be ready later this spring. We actually got started on it a whole lot earlier than I thought we would. We...

    Grass strip length

Thanks all! I thought I would be ok with 1200' but it's nice to hear from lots more experienced pilots! Did I mention that I have 100' wide :-). Nice to have room to move around :-). Maybe I can have my own fly-in sometime :-)

    Grass strip length

Hi Tim! Long time! I've been lurking some but also just too busy on too many projects :-). I just got a Husky and we're building a strip at the ranch. It's going to be 1200' in the clear with the 50' obstacles at the ends another 250' from each end. I talked with some taildragger...

    Grass strip length

Hi all, Just a quick question. What's the shortest length grass strip you would feel comfortable landing a Husky, Maule or Super Cub at? Thanks! Joyce

Pilot apps on iPhones vs Droids

Shucks. I guess it's not a real big deal. The only reason I use ForeFlight on my phone is to file a flight plan and check weather. Is there a filing program like ForeFlight or Duats on the Droid? Thanks for all your help and info!

Pilot apps on iPhones vs Droids

Hi Guys, I have an iPhone 4 that I got because of all the cool pilot apps. Now my contract is up and the decision is between the iPhone 5 (unless I hold out until spring for the elusive 5s) or go to the Droid platform. I'd really like to hear your thoughts and are there cool apps in the...

    Another dog thread

Amen! I just spent the last 24 hours crying about the fact that my 6 mo old malinois puppy Zulu got hit by one of the guys working on the ranch and it broke her leg. We got her to Dallas today to a specialist and they plated and pinned her with 12 screws. She's going to stay in doggie ICU...
