Had something similar happen to me @ KAWO where all traffic was racetracking for 16 and all of the sudden 2 guys want to do a flight of 2 from 34... Taught me to expect anything at any time in uncontrolled, leave a way out, and have a plan.

What does this do to the turbine fans when you go through this ? I imagine if the nose looks like that, the internals of the engines probably gets dinged up pretty bad. Like a whole bunch of high speed FOD.

From conversation with a witness who saw the landing, he pranged that thing pretty hard. He touched down nosewheel first, and bounced about 4 times. He obviously had some training to get out of Chino and to FUL. Unbelievable. That airplane isn't used at any of the training FBOS @ CNO

I know from having my PPG, that soaring is indeed so much fun. DLG is a blast, and its so incredible as soaring pilots we recognize even the smallest bubble. So challenging to maintain efficient and coordinated circles @ 10' above the ground for minutes with the sudden cannonball blowing...

As do I. Even If I just did it, and called for fuel I re sump it to make sure that its not Jet A or H2O in there. I dip the finger rub it, feel for evap, or greasy, and than a quick waft to see if I smell something different.

Wow... lucky. H2O in the fuel... with all the recent rain, I could see how that could be an issue, whether it be from leaky storage, or outside parking. 200 AGL is split second thinking, especially in a climbout. Glad they're alive.
