What type of lights are these

I fly out of KASH and I noticed they installed 3 pairs of red lights to the left of runway 14. It almost looks like a 3 bar VASI, but I don’t think it is because the lights don’t change color on an approach. Does anyone know what they are and their purpose is? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Standard Rate Turns without Turn Coordinator?

You can take 10% of your true airspeed and then add half. For example if your flying at 100 KTAS, 10% is 10, and half is 5. Therefore you’d use 15 degrees of bank Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Glideslope Intercept Altitude

I understand that there are two methods to intercept the glideslope. Technique 1: descend to step down fixes and intercept the glideslope at glideslope intercept altitude. Technique 2: intercept the glideslope at your last assigned altitude and verify your altitude at the outer marker. I...

    Holding the Glideslope

During an ILS, I said that I correct for a being high or low on the glide slope by using pitch. My instructor said that’s wrong and that you should be pitching for airspeed and powering for altitude on an ILS. That confused me because I was flying at 100 mph (which is ahead of the power curve...

No. That’s too slow for an approach Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Holding the Glideslope

I feel like the approach will become unstable if you only use power to maintain the glideslope Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Holding the Glideslope

When I was flying with my instructor, I was talking him through how to fly an ILS. I said that I use pitch to maintain the glideslope. He said that’s wrong and that I should be using power. But I don’t understand that because there will be a lag. I don’t have any issues flying the approaches...

    Holding the Glideslope

Ok, I agree. This is pretty much how I fly it. The reason for making this post is because I’m taking my CFII checkride soon and want to make sure I tell the student how to maintain the glideslope properly Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Holding the Glideslope

Do you guys prefer to pitch for airspeed and power for altitude or power for airspeed and pitch for altitude on the glideslope? Wouldn’t it depend if your approach speed is ahead or behind the power curve? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Garmin 430W RNAV Approach Question

When shooting an RNAV approach, why does the GPS sometimes say “L/VNAV” instead of always saying “LPV?” I understand that different minimums are used, but is it because not enough satellites are in view to be able to do an LPV approach? If so, how many satellites are required for each type of...

    Tail Stall Recovery

Can anyone explain why the recovery procedure is to pull back on the yoke to recover from a tail stall? Ive read that pulling back decreases the angle of attack on the tail, but wouldn’t it actually increase the angle of attack since the Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Cross controlled stall

Ok. The PTS doesn’t say that there needs to be a wing drop, but I thought that the whole purpose of the maneuver is to demonstrate how cross controlled stalls are bad and could lead to spins. I feel like if I were to demonstrate a cross controlled stall that breaks evenly, the student might get...

    Cross controlled stall

For some reason, when I do cross controlled stalls in the piper warrior, I cant get a wing drop. Does a wing have to drop for it be satisfactory on the checkride? My only thought is that maybe I’m not uncoordinated enough Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
