Really depends on who manages the water. Here in N.C. it can be a town, county, power company, army, state, you name it. Very hard to determine where it’s legal to land.

The reality is every plane sold has to have a high enough mark up to cover the multi million dollar potential lawsuit for the next 40+ years the product is around. If a boat fails out of warranty worst case they loose a customer.

They targeted an extremely small piece of the market. Add in their flashy advertisements, huge booths at shows, and highly publicized mishaps and I am shocked they lasted this long.

If you are shopping for a Lance or Cherokee 6 and Insurance premium is a deal breaker, your bank account isn't going to lake the rest of the expenses lol.

The solution is simple, stop paying these crazy prices and they will start coming back down. I am sure there are exceptions but I certainly have noticed planes I am interested in aren't selling or take months to find the right buyer at the price they are asking.

When it comes to trucks they are all extremely reliable these days. Sure there will be a lemon get through occasionally but I wouldn't let reliability factor at all into which brand I purchased. Find the one that best fits your wish list and that you enjoy driving.

You didn't really state what your load carrying requirements are but I agree with some others in the fact you just need a higher performance airplane, not necessarily a turbo. RV10, Bellanca Viking, 520 Bonanza, Big engine mooney. Keep the arrow and get a 2 place experimental for the NY trip.
