What attributes do you think new MOSAIC compliant LSA aircraft should have to return General Aviation to 10,000 aircraft sales per year?

Wow! It has been a long time since I’ve visited the board (years?). I think my story is like many others. I bought “my” Cherokee in 2006 and put 1,000 hours on it over 13 years. I am active duty military and kept it during deployments, but I sold it for $30K when we moved overseas for two...

First solo in variable winds - embarrased

Go around and try again. You will be surprised how much the wind can change in the last 100 feet of descent. It’s not uncommon to end up in that situation. Go around, and you know what to expect next time.

    Switch to BasicMed?

Thanks Jeff. I don’t know much about BasicMed. Can you work for hire as a CFI under Basicmed, or are you saying that you can instruct without being paid?

    Switch to BasicMed?

Hello! I have a current Class 3 medical that expires next summer. I am currently living overseas and plan to return to the U.S. next summer. I had a complex medical issue arise a couple of years ago that has been dealt with but requires occasional monitoring (successful surgery to prevent colon...

    Question about military Visual Routes

Call the OSS and speak with them kindly. The ones who call with a screw loose rarely make any progress. I hope they can help you. If they can’t, they might at least explain why that particular part of the route can’t be changed.

I owned a Cherokee for about 14 years, 12 of it with a hangar. Having experienced both sides, I agree that you can do it without a hangar if absolutely necessary. However, you really need to take that hangar savings and put it back into the airplane. The two years outside in hot and humid...

All women Deltra crew flies 120 girls to NASA HQ

This thread is a good reminder of why I’m going to retire to the country some day and cancel all of my internet service.

    IFR and babies

We used to fly between Dayton, OH, and the Deep South a lot. We usually were routed around the east side of Cincy on the way home, but one evening our oldest was screaming bloody murder in the back loud enough for the controller to hear it. We received direct Dayton in less than 30 seconds from...

    Boy I Nailed that Landing

I love that feeling after a perfect landing...and then I inevitably leave holes in the pavement on the next one.

BOEING 767F crash near Houston in the bay Atlas cargo

Definitely a bird strike. Probably a couple of buzzards.

    Night VFR Poll

I didn’t submit a vote because the options don’t suit me. I love flying VFR at night, but I am much more picky about the terrain that I fly over. I hate departing over dense forests at night.

    Possible Piper AD

I did the math on my Cherokee today. It was used as a trainer extensively in the first 20 years of its life, and it has had a fairly leisurely life since then. It has about 6100 hours and 40 100-hour inspections. This came out to about 4118 factored hours, which doesn’t sound great...

    Wind Shear / Your Thoughts

It happens...I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Keep an eye on the winds aloft forecasts. Wind sheer is the biggest problem when there is low level wind shear due to decoupling or a frontal passage. I’ve never hit wind sheer in cruise that was worrisome...just uncomfortable. Now mountain...
