Go around and try again. You will be surprised how much the wind can change in the last 100 feet of descent. It’s not uncommon to end up in that situation. Go around, and you know what to expect next time.

Call the OSS and speak with them kindly. The ones who call with a screw loose rarely make any progress. I hope they can help you. If they can’t, they might at least explain why that particular part of the route can’t be changed.

I did the math on my Cherokee today. It was used as a trainer extensively in the first 20 years of its life, and it has had a fairly leisurely life since then. It has about 6100 hours and 40 100-hour inspections. This came out to about 4118 factored hours, which doesn’t sound great...

Nope, I’m still looking forward to a few more days of the Christmas break. I love Christmas...it has been over-commercialized to the extreme, but it is hard to beat if you can cut through that and enjoy the season with family and friends. I will be ready for a return to normalcy next week though!
