I learnt to fly in Cheyenne, WY. where winds are a way of life. I now fly a lot on the Oregon coast where the typical winds during nice sunny summer days are howling. You do get used to flying in wind and it does get easier.

My 172N just went to TBO + 100hrs without a single piece of engine work ever done on it. No top overhaul, no cam issues, no valve issues, oil analysis was always v.good. Just had it overhauled by Penn Yan and have pictures of the old cam and lifters, they were like new with only slight wear and...

I hate it when Cirrus pilots try and land on runway 13 (that is notamed closed and has 'X's, workmen and vehicles all over it!) without making a single call on the CTAF, going around on final at less than 100ft due to the workmen screaming at him on said CTAF, while I am taking off on runway 01...

My 172 has flown 25% OVER gross before. Oh, and it's service ceiling is 14,200ft.
