    It's your engine

"Hypothetically" speaking... Airport manager does not call the FAA or NTSB. Insurance would rather not pay for transporting the aircraft by land but will do so if there are extenuating circumstances. FAA is not keen on issuing ferry permits. Probably depends on local FSDO. Switching out the...

New LED landing light = WOW

Bought a Teledyne Alphabeam for a landing light but haven't installed it yet. I'm going to order another to replace the taxi light and install both at the same time. Been hoping for an Aircraft Spruce discount code before ordering the second one.

    Weird insurance exemption

Not sure this is limited strictly to aircraft. Most insurance policies exclude acts of war.

AOPA Air Safety Institute FB Page Hacked

Anybody else been getting nasty messages on their Face Book pages from the Air Safety Institute? I think AOPA needs to squawk 7500 on the transponder.:goofy:

Impact Of Gear Up On Value

My 182P had two instances of damage history; first in 1979 in a nose over, then 13 years ago in a prop strike. Work was done properly each time and thorough pre-buy confirmed it. Broker discounted asking price to about 90% of VREF to account for damage history. I was able to negotiate a couple...

New 56 year old beginning pilot.....

I received my PPL at age 61 last September. Took my discovery flight 11 months earlier. I took my instruction from a Class C airport so I got used to talking to ATC pretty quickly. Some of the ATC guys also rented from the school, so I also got to know them and speak with them (and got to...

    EDM 930 showing amp discharge

UPDATE - Problem Fixed. I was fortunate to receive a reply on the Cessna Pilots Association site from the avionics shop that originally installed the EDM. The owner even sent tons of pics of the panel update. He advised that a small twisted pair of wires had been reversed. My A&P reversed...

Georgia resident, plane based in Tennessee - property tax

The Georgia assessor is most likely using the plane's registration as the "situs" or location, of the plane. Both Tennessee and Georgia tax personal property (including aircraft), and the actual imposition of a property tax on the plane may well be subject to the County's practices. If you've...

    Dare to Dream at FXE

I took up a Diamond DA-40 with them early last fall. They're very professional, very nice, based in the Banyan FBO facility. I just decided that they were probably a little too expensive for my wallet. Two hours in the Diamond (with an instructor) was a little over $600. Cirrus would have...

Plane in annual, should I do a pre-purchase

Absolutely get a pre-buy. You may also want the pre-buy A&P to issue an updated annual if you decide to go through with the purchase. It should cost you minimally more and will give you additional time until your next annual.
