    My shirt was cut

Congrats! It really is an incredible feeling that's hard to describe to non pilots! I guess that's why we all huddle together and tell stories until we get in trouble for not being "sociable!" o_O

    Pace of Training

I have been doing the once or twice (on the rare occasion I could get on the flight schedule) a week lesson and it has drug training out WAY longer than I expected or wanted. Also, in order to get on the schedule more often, I have had to respectfully “suffer” through using several different...

    Intensive PP training

My buddy did his finish-up training with American Flyers https://americanflyers.com/ up in Morristown NJ. He said it was a pretty good experience, and has gone back to them for several additional training sessions. Might be worth checking them out.

    LoLPilot's Private Checkride

Thanks, I think I'll end up around there too, maybe even a little more. It's nice to know I'm not alone in taking so dadgum long to get this done. With the lack of A/C, CFIs and crappy weather these days, it takes FOREVER to get some traction in training. When I'm only able to get in the...

    Recording device for solo.

Not that I know much about flying yet (as I just SOLO'ed a week ago) but I used a GoPro with the audio cable on my BIG day and it caused no distraction at all. I stuck it to the canopy while my CFI was checking all my required documents, hit the red button on my phone app, put my phone away...

    LoLPilot's Private Checkride

Excellent report LoLPilot! I really enjoyed your backstory and the flow through the checkride experience, very easy to read, thanks! I am about to start my second year into PP training and getting pretty frustrated. So much so I'm taking leave in August to try to speed things along before I...

    Seaplane Rating Complete

Congrats! Seaplanes are what got me back interested in becoming a pilot! Took a couple of PP lessons in high school and then life got in the way. 30 years later, after a trip to Alaska, I was absolutely convinced that I want to fly, and eventually fly seaplanes! Not in Alaska, too dadgum...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

I SOLO'ed on July 20th! It was absolutely amazing to FINALLY get to fly the plane and know for a fact that I can do this without a person sitting there. What a HUGE confidence builder because I was starting to think maybe this might not be for me. So now it's on to Cross-Country phase and next...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Congrats! I also just Solo'ed on the July 20th at 32 hours (repeated lesson 8 maybe 10 times due not being able to fly more that once a month for various [most of which not mine] reasons). Passed the written while waiting to get to this point. Excited to FINALLY move into the cross-country phase!

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Thanks for the encouragement and congrats on the check ride! I am really excited to have some of the breakthroughs people keep telling me will come. So far, flying is like golf for me, I was better before I decide to learn how to actually do it. :-)

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Hey everyone, new student pilot here. I'm ~ 8.5 hours into this adventure and it's starting to seem like it's gonna be A LOT harder than I anticipated! I have discovered some basic facts though: 1) I am absolutely terrible at radio communication (what language is it they speak anyways?) 2) I...
