Mystery "TRIM SPRING" Lever in Cessna 414

Right on George. Here is Roberson STOL description: "A variable elevator trim system is incorporated with a two-position selector handle to compensate for nose-down pitch at different CG positions. As the Fowler flaps add about 13-percent additional area aft of the chord, the center of lift...

Trim Spring on a Cessna 414

Hi Guys, I posted this on the maintenance section but I thought about asking it here too: Is anybody here familiar with the functionality of the TRIM SPRING slider/lever on a C414? I have posted the pictures on another post in the maintenance bay forum. Thanks

Mystery "TRIM SPRING" Lever in Cessna 414

Hi Guys, I need your help identifying something: In a C414 I started flying, there is a lever or slider right between the two front seats labeled "TRIM SPRING" (I think). See the attached pictures. There is no mention of what this is in either the POH or the Simcom manual. I've asked the...

    New ATP requirements

Hello All, I've looked over the new requirement for the ATP rating effective July 31, 2014 but I'm still confused. If I want to get my ATP Multi under the old rules, do I have to take my practical exam by July 31 or just the written? If I take the written before July 31, does that lock me in...

    Dubious "clearing turns"

Here's a point that is often lost during clearing turns: When an aircraft is on a collision path with yours, it will appear stationary (constant bearing, closing range). By varying your airplane's heading, conflicting targets start to move in the windshield thus making them easier to spot (we...

    Landing fee at KASE (Aspen)

They don't charge you as long as you don't shutdown. I fly into Aspen several times a year and have never been charged a fee. Just land on 15, taxi off and go to the beginning of 33 and take off (after waiting behind a couple of G-V and Citations :)

Approach Plate Question - ILS 32 at SBY

I think the purpose of the LR-148 is to keep the pilot out-bound on SWL-046 from intercepting a possible side-lobe prior to getting to the main beam.

This baby lives at 6700ft. Do you think a 5300ft climb can potentially be hazardous?

Tips from my CFII checkride last Friday

I was asked the same question about the compass heading on my instrument checkride. Was your DE a guy named Dudley Tarlton? BTW: I don't think its possible to use a GPS as a primary heading indicator especially if you are trying to use it to keep the wings level: it lags too much.
