Interesting tie-in for me: I was driving west on Rt. 80 and passed the scene as they were putting it on a flatbed. I don't recall it looking like a Cessna (Flycatcher?), but I only caught a glimpse, and it looked like one o' them new plastic jobs.
Saw no obvious damage; PIC chose well- a long straightaway with a divided-off lane for express traffic. No word in the media yet on whether or not a flight plan was filed... :D

I-80's a good runway. I remember a Cherokee landing near Rockaway in the early 1990's when I lived out there. They parked him on the side. I think he ran out of gas.

A flight instructor and flight safety officer were apparently on board at the time of the incident, officials said. The flight was part of a training exercise.

One of those real life training exercises.

Okay, so why is the Department of Homeland Security operating LSA's?

To spy on us while burning 4 GPH. In the past that would have been a C-152, Skipper or Traumahawk.

Actually, it was a Piper Cub. The said it on TV.

:D

Any news on this? I dont see anything on the NTSB site yet.

Why don't just declare all New Jersey highways as DHS landing strips?

All will be OK as long as they don't try to pump their own gas.
