Ouch!
Anemometer just reported wind gusts of 53 knots

KAEG reported near same at 51 kt.

And it just keeps getting stronger. And winds aloft at FL120 don't look encouraging either

Did y'all get the thundersnow this morning? It was crazy.

I woke up at 4:30, looked out and saw the streets clear. Then thundersnow, followed by almost blizzard conditions for about 20 minutes, and the roads immediately filled with snow/ice and driving conditions sucked to get to the train station.

Then....it all melted. LOL. Up here in Santa Fe the roads are still pretty nasty.

No, didn't hear the thunder over the noise of the howling wind and the combination of sleet and graupel pelting the windows.

BTW, the ice on the roads was melted by 1030, so you shouldn't have driving problems getting home (assuming the RailRunner isn't derailed by the wind)

thundersnow and icefog, all in a couple days here maybe a week ago, I was thrilled and amazed!

Wow! Tuck some rocks in your pockets so y'all don't blow away! Sure glad it's not blowing here ; it's 3°F at noon ... guess I'm staying inside today.

When the winds are gusting to 50mph is not a good time to be hanging from the side of a skyscraper... and then have issues with your scaffolding...

See the video from a Houston high rise: http://www.wfaa.com/news/texas-news/High-drama-Workers-rescued-from-Houston-high-rise-78796207.html

Awesome use of the English language by WFAA:

The Houston Fire Department sent ambulances to the scene, but none of the workers was injured.
Sigh.

edit: Bah, I fail at Grammar Nazihood.

Yup, I had to walk about four blocks today and it wasn't 'zactly calm air downtown. I considered it just a tad past invigorating, much more like bracing. Ok, Ok, I was really glad I remembered to grab my hat and gloves on the way out the door.

So what are the best toddy recipes? The rum locker is empty! May have to remedy that...

YOWZA!!!!!! That's some breeze!!!

Heck, I'd fly in it. That wind is right down the runway here. No crosswind, no problem!

:yikes::yikes:

ha - that site went down right after the 75kt report...blew away most likely.
El Paso peaked at 59kts

Actually, it's not incorrect. "None" can refer to either one or more. As reference, pg. 10 in Strunk & White, "use the singular verb when the word means 'no one' or 'not one'. A plural verb is commonly used when 'none' suggests more than one person or thing"

Hmmm... we seem to be following the cold air. It has warmed up to -16 here but it seems it's colder down there now and we are leaving in a little over an hour.

Yeah, that's why I edited and said I fail. I'm pretty big on grammar....somehow I didn't know that.

Blegh.

I didn't know it either. I keep S&W next to my desk. It's my 3rd copy over the years...my high school english teacher required all of us to have a copy. Best advice she ever gave us.

Here's one we don't see often around here:

I keep my S&W on the next to me on the desk too....a Model 642CT. My English teacher never knew about laser sights....:D

It sounds as if you are very strict about enforcing good grammar.

I keep my S&W in the bedroom. I suppose that I'm not particularly serious about grammar except at night. :D

We had a hight gust of 61mph last night with winds steady around 35mph or so... Along with 0*F temps and about 10 inches of snow.
