Wings of Hope Fall Raffle

I have stopped buying. Am I a bad person because of that? Or because of another reason?

I’m more wanting the headset

I toss 'em some money every now and then. Not that I wouldn't happily fly any airplane they've raffled, but I usually won't buy tickets unless it's something useful. At least the Cherokee 180 is a decent offering in terms of utility. If it was a Cherokee 140 I'd be less enthused.

The 180 is comparable to the Beech I already own, but less comfortable, with smaller fuel tanks, and with less luggage capacity. I'm not particularly interested in a raffle ticket.

Haters gonna hate

Lol, I have no airplane so I wouldn't turn down most anything that was in annual and safe/operable. However, if I'm wasting money, may as well waste it on something I might keep for more than 6 months.

I'm with Sooner.... I have no airplane and would be tickled to win almost anything
but this one seems not as well equipped as the last one...no autopilot, etc...
it doesn't offer any "nostalgia" like some older classic cessna 170 or similar might
so while I'd be happy, this one doesn't have the wow factor...unless I'm missing something. I've never been a huge piper fan anyway....not that there's anything wrong with 'em, just haven't flow many nice examples

For those not buying a ticket, the wings of hope Taste is this Saturday. Lots of great local food to try. And you can taxi right to their ramp if you fly in. I’ll be there

Looks like it will have some nice avionics.

Are they in stealth mode? Only 2266 errr, 2269 tickets sold

"Our mechanics and volunteers are installing state-of-the-art IFR avionics including dual GI-275 Attitude and Horizontal Situation Indicators (does away with the problematic vacuum system) integrated with the touchscreen Garmin 650Xi GPS/NAV/COM, GNC-255 NAV/COM and ADS-B In & Out Transponder. "

Seems like a pretty nice panel. Even without it, I wouldn't be angry.

(I did have the wrong plane)

I don't think you're missing anything. Here's a panel picture from one of the sales ads when it was for sale before. I didn't see that WoH did any work on it.

GX55 GPS, IFR enroute only.
KT-79 mode C transponder
Single king 97a radio

But what do you want for $100? I wouldn't be angry, but I've won exactly one thing (50/50 raffle) in my life

WoH always upgrades the avionics. Here is what they have/will upgrade this plane with.

Not exactly lighting it up like the first few raffles they did which sold out in an hour or two (of course I think they had fewer total tickets available and lower price), but if it take a day or two to sell out, it must be a winning formula for them.

I had the wrong plane....confused it with another 180 I was looking at.

A 1968 with less than 2,000 hours TT and 800 on the engine. A rare barn find looking for a new life, or an unmaintained hangar queen?

2596... Just bought the winning ticket, jes saying

Well, congratulations on that new iPad, because I know I have the ticket for the plane. I'm so due to win something.

about how much will it cost the lucky winner to add a basic but good autopilot to this?

So sorry, but I bought the winning ticket. You'll have to make do with the iPad or training...

Sorry folks, but the trend is that raffle winners typically already have 2-3 planes (one of which is a jet), 500,000 hours and will hang this one in their home museum ceiling. Usually nothing for us poor renters.

As of noon they appear to have sold about 3,100 tickets. It might take them through the weekend to get the last 1,900 sold.

Well, those would be the entrants who buy tickets a few hundred at a time instead of purchasing one or two like us poor folks.

Friday evening, 36 hours after the went up for sale, and they still have almost 1800 tickets left. I guess I didn't need to set that alarm yesterday!
Is this a leading economic indicator of a bad time coming?

About 5 or 10 years ago POA had a run. My memory is weak, but weren't there like 3 out of 4 raffles, a member here won the airplane?

I buy a ticket or 3, every year. It's a donation to a foundation that gives back. I know a probably won't win, but it would be nice. It feels good to give back.

Just got an email - tickets are still available, a week after the start. When is the last time that happened?

Yet you feel the need to say this, in public?

Some peoples kids.

Even if I won the plane I couldn't keep it. I don't think I could afford the taxes to keep it.

Personally, I'd prefer second prize: PPL scholarship

the immediate taxes will be just under 23k -25% to the feds, 4% to Missouri. After that, there’s annual vehicle taxes in your state.
